Are you thinking about
starting a business?
If
so, then I say go for it...but listen up. A lot of people
will tell you that the heart of the "American Dream" is
owning a home, but I do not agree. True, 95 percent of the
American population believes that owning a home is the biggest
part of the American Dream, but my guess is that most of
those people probably don't know something even better -
owning a business.
Don't believe me? Just ask any successful small business owner
about
the joys
of
owning
their own business, and I think you'll have a change of heart.
So why would I say to you that so many people don't realize
owning a business could be even better than owning a home?
Fear, that's why. To put it into perspective let me say this
- we're all born rich (whatever rich means to you), but most
of us grow up poor. By poor I mean our rich birthright is taken
away from us by well-meaning people who tell us we can't do "this",
we shouldn't do "that", and we need to be more careful
and not take any unnecessary chances all the while we're growing
up.
In
other
words, we
need to
fit into "their" (fearful) mold of how we should act,
where we should spend our "gainful employment"
time, and who we should work for...usually anyone but ourselves.
I SCREAM WRONG! I have an uncle
and a cousin who are both millionaires. My uncle
never finished high school. My cousin did, but just
barely.
Obviously,
neither one of them has what society wants you to believe are
the proper tools an individual needs to "make it big" in
today's world, but society is overlooking one very big factor...NO
EXCUSES!
My uncle and my cousin will both tell you that success
or failure doesn't belong, and doesn't reside, in the hands of
anyone
but yourself. In other words, you are what you think you are.
If you believe what the naysayers tell you, that "you're
a failure",
then that's what you are. If you believe in yourself and you
believe you're a success...then that's what
you are.
If you are thinking about starting a business there is
financial help available, but you need to have all your ducks
in a row. If you're seeking outside funding (which I assume you
are since you're here) then you need to first go to
this web page,
and don't forget to check out the link at the end of the article.
If your particular business venture doesn't need or qualify for
government funding, write up
a business plan
(if only for yourself) then check out some of the small business
lending partners listed below.
Don't talk yourself out of giving it a go before
you actually do. You're bound to have a bit of self-doubt
but you need to keep one thing in mind - Thought is Something,
Action is Everything! In the words of Anthony Robbins (yes, that
Anthony Robbins), "If you can't you must, if you
must you can."
Now I don't care how much of a schmuck you think old A. R. is,
truer words have never been spoken. Take it from me, a small
business
owner. Your agenda, plus your action, will equal your imagination...if
you let it!
